layers

Layers is a Mac software that allows you to capture everything on your screen (such as cursor, application windows, palettes, menus, dock, desktop icons, etc.) as a layered Photoshop file. This tool is extemely useful for creating tutorial screen captures. I have 5 licenses to giveaway. Enter a comment in this post before Jan 3rd, 2010 for your chance to win one free license. For more details about the app, visit LayersApp.com. Follow @layersapp on Twitter for updates.

Update: The winner are: 22, 51, and 86.

layers app
Everything (menus, windows, icons, etc.) is organized in layers & groups.

About Layers App

The app is very easy to use. Just press the shortcut key Control + Shift + S (default shortcut) and a PSD file will generate in the Desktop > Layers folder (default location). Of course you can change the shortcuts and capture folder in the application’s Preferences. In the PSD file, everything is organized nicely in separate layers and groups: menus, windows, palettes, dock, desktop, and file icons.

License Giveaways (5 copies)

I’d never heard of the Layers app, but after seeing some of the information regarding the software, I’m really impressed. That takes screen shots to a whole new and functional level. Good luck and congrats to the winners!

Wow, this would be really useful at my work. When designing and animating banners, most of the websites requires backup-gifs additional to a .swf file.

With this piece of software it would take a lot less time to capture all the gifs for all the different formats!

I am new to digital design but have always enjoyed art and design. Now I’m making my first website ~ mediaforpeacebuilding.com. I hope that it will be a source for people to learn about different types of media (web, music, art, writing, graphic design, and so on) that contributes to peacebuilding. I want to create a website that will network peacebuilders everywhere who use media in a responsible, creative, and positive way to contribute to a more hopeful future.
