IconDock Shop Launched
Feb 21, 2009 8 Comments
After two years of selling stock icons on N.Design Studio, I’ve decided to create a new site, IconDock, that is dedicated for icons. It is a icon shop where I offer stock icons and free icons. As you may have noticed, all icon-related content on this site have moved to IconDock. With the new site launch, I also released a new set of icon called HiGloss. Now, you can buy icons individually starting at a dollar or save by buying the entire set. Please check out the site and let me know your feedbacks. Thanks.

In Novemenber 2008, I spoke at the Future of Web Design conference in New York City about Finding Inspiration From Your Environment. The conference went very well and I had a lot of fun during my stay in New York. Thanks to those who provied me with valuable feedbacks at the after party. If you’ve missed the event and are interested in viewing the presentation slides, you can see the embedded slides in this post (you can also download the slides via SlideShare). The conference video is available at the Carsonified website.
About The Presentation Slides
At the beginning, I showed two of my new illustrations and the process of making them (from sketch to final). Then I talked about where I find inpiration and how I keep my work/ideas fresh. At the end, I presented two examples on how you can create original work from various inspiring sources. If you’ve visited the conference and saw my presentation, please post your comments and feedbacks in this post.

Product Review: SumoSac

Sumosac
Once again Sumo Lounge has launched another ingenious product: the SumoSac (super size bean bag). I received a SumoSac couple weeks ago for product review and I gotta tell you, it is one of the most comfortable bean-bag chair I have ever sat in. The SumoSac is a large suede sac filled with shredded furniture grade urethane foam. In addition to its comfort, the Sumosac is stylish and practical. The size of the sac is more than enough space to accommodate two people simultaneously, which is great for playing video games or just chilling with friends. The suede cover is soft and comfy, unlike the nylon cover of the Omni I got a while back. Best of all, it is removable so cleaning is not problem at all. For more details please visit their website.
Facebook App for WIRED Science

The Facebook app that I designed for WIRED Science is officially launched. The app is called “WIRED SCIENCE: What Element Are You?” It is basically a fun app that lets you take a short quiz to find out what element you are from the periodic table. Then you can combine your element with your friends and it will tell you the relationship between the two of you. If you are interested in adding me to your network, here is my Facebook profile (I rarely update though).
It was a great pleasure working Liz Burr (project coordinator) and Pure Inc. (Facebook app developer). The project was successfully done. I did the design and front-end CSS coding. It was a fun project for me because I had full creative control and I got to do some illustration and icon work (my favorites). Here are the screenshots:
FreeRice.com

I recently came across this site, FreeRice.com, which I thought it is very nice and creative. It is nice because you can learn vocabulary and help the world hunger. The idea is very creative. This is how it works: you go to FreeRice.com and play their vocabulary game, for each question answered correctly 10 grains of rice will be donated by the sponsors to help people living in poverty. It is a win-win situation – you get to play the game, FreeRice get the traffics, advertisers get their exposure, and people get the free rice. If you like the idea, please help to spread out the word. For more details, please read their FAQ page.
